ISAAC winners announced
Tue Mar 17 2009
On Friday, March 13, 2009, Indent awarded its 10 ‘ISAAC’ awards for outstanding achievements in the all ages entertainment arena at the Bondi Pavilion, Bondi Beach.
The ISAAC awards take their name from Indent’s mascot (Indent Super All Ages Crusader) and are an annual award ceremony and opportunity for young contenders to be recognized and celebrated for exceptional efforts towards their local entertainment scene.
Each of the 10 categories are supported by industry professionals, reflecting the high level of standards expected and very much delivered by each of the event teams that are funded through Indent’s partnership grants.
‘New Moon Productions’ in Tuncurry took out the Best Event supported by Big Day Out, for their Commotion by the Ocean event. While Best Indent Team was awarded to the ‘Northo crew’ for their ‘Rock across the River’ events in North
Richmond. For a full list of award winners read on... oh and all the pictures will be up on our
blog very soon!
Minister for Youth, Graham West, presented the awards on the day. “The Indent ISAAC awards are important to the development of all-ages music events in NSW,” Mr West said. “I am pleased to congratulate the young winners for their hard work and creativity in bringing these well-organised and entertaining events to our State.” In 2008 Indent funded event teams hosted over 100 events, for an audience of nearly 40,000 people, and set up a stage for over 545 emerging youth bands to showcase their amazing talents. The ISAAC awards recognise and celebrate such outstanding achievements of young people and support workers in their contribution to all-ages entertainment.
On the day all 2009 funded event teams and award winners were able to
pick the minds of the creme of the crop and take tips from the top to
put on how to put on their events. Tom Tilley from Triple J's Hack
hosted the event with Heath Mawson Modular Records Label Manager took
the keynote and explained how at the tender age of 24 he is in his dream
job. Craig Schuftan from Triple J's Culture Club gave an entertaining lecture on popular culture, complete with loud music, and dance moves.

Stephen Wade from Select Music and Coaster Festival joined Heath
and Ankia Peou form Remote Control Records on the open panel and were drilled with questions on sponsorship, risk, promotion, and general tricks of the trade.
The afternoon workshops in the afternoon were fielded by the Indent team, Chris Moller from APRA, Bree Carter from Select Music and Kristy Wilson from the Big Day Out.
