After conquering their heats, 6 young upcoming bands battled it out to score a spot on the main stage of Shoreshocked 2006, each unique and outstanding and all set on winning.
The night kicked off at 7pm, and each band flaunted their goods, attracting the largest crowd the Fitz has ever seen with over 350 people.
The ‘screamo’ stylings of Anno Domini had the crowd moshing, Outlier boasted exceptional talent and The Sirens, None The Wiser and The Piece all put in memorable performances. But it was Ace Squad that stole the show taking away first prize, along with a day of recording at Noisegate Studios, a live set on FBi radio and $350 to spend at Turramurra Music.
And of course, they’ll be ripping up Shoreshocked 2006.
Not only was the night the Band Comp Final, but it was also the launch of the “Greatest Fitz: Volume 1” compilation, which features a host of young bands (aged under 25) who have played at the Fitz Youth Centre in the past two years. It also contains a special bonus track by Frenzal Rhomb, who played regularly at the Fitz in their early days. To launch the CD, and close the night, Lady Peroxide took the stage after the comp final and rocked out with their heavy metal version of “Inspector Gadget.”
The Greatest Fitz album can be purchased for $10 at Ku-ring-gai Council or Turramurra Music.
