Down The Park 2005

Over 2000 young people crammed into Dunningham Park to take part in “Down The Park” Youth Week festival, Sutherland Shire’s biggest Youth Week event ever.

Down The Park showcased youth culture with talented young musicians, skateboarders and break dancers strutting their stuff in the public arena. Professional skate demos from the Decked Out skate team on a 2 metre high half pipe wowed audiences, B-Boys battled it out on the pavement and eager fans gathered to see an array of musicians including young acoustic artist ‘Israel Cannan’, Shire pop punkers ‘Chrysolite’, rockers ‘Grand Fatal’ and Triple J Unearthed winners Unpaid Debt. To top it all off ‘Kid Courageous’ headlined the event to a crowd of screaming, adoring fans.

Down The Park was organised by Sutherland Shire Council’s PLAY Youth Events Committee, a dedicated group of young people who organise events “for young people, by young people” in conjunction with Engadine District Youth Services (EDYS) and Shire Wide Youth Services. “Down The Park” was proudly supported by Decked Out Skateboards, National NSW Youth Week, evolution surf wear, FBI 94.5fm, Shire Wide Youth Services inc, Menai Lions, ECP Records, RockSugar Music, Miranda Police
